- But this morning, we’ve woken up to the next installment of the bag saga… Queensland has announced they’re banning single-use plastic bags, including degradable and biodegradable ones!
- This decision has also been paired with a recycling scheme where you can make 10 cents for every can or bottle returned.
From July next year, Queenslanders will need to remember to pack their reusable bags before heading to the shops!
Overnight, Queensland State Parliament unanimously decided enough was enough, waking up to the stats that a whopping one billion lightweight bags are used in Queensland each year – many of which end up in waterways.
They’re joining South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory on the #BanTheBag movement, but we’re scratching our heads as to what the remaining states are doing?
