Foodie power couples

When it comes to developing our recipes, we love coming up with tasty new combos!

But did you know that some food pairings are more powerful than others? It’s all down to what’s known as bioavailability, and while we’ve written about this before, we’ve stumbled across a few new power pairings you might want to explore next time you’re in the kitchen.

Tea + Lemon.

Love a good cuppa? Us too! Next time, squeeze a little citrus into your cup and boost your ability to absorb  tea’s powerful antioxidants, known as catechins.

Spinach + Avocado.

Like we ever need an excuse to pop a little avo on our plate, but turns out, noshing on avo and spinach together (hello, dream salad!) allows our body to absorb the essential vitamins in spinach more easily. Don’t fancy avo? Simply drizzle those leafy greens with coconut oil or olive oil to reap the same rewards.

Tomatoes + Olive Oil.

Speaking of olive oil, a drizzle of this heart-healthy fat over your toms boosts the bioavailability of lycopene. Tomato salad anyone?

Yoghurt + Almonds.

There’s nothing better than crunchy almonds sprinkled on full-fat yoghurt, but now, there’s an even better reason to munch on this tasty snack! According to research, the prebiotic properties of almonds can help feed the healthy probiotics in yoghurt, making this one delicious power couple!
