Getting kids to eat veggies ain’t always an easy task!
So, if you’re struggling to get your child to eat their spinach (and the mention of Popeye isn’t working), try sneaking it into a smoothie instead! They will barely taste it and be guzzling down loads of nutrient-dense greens at the same time.
As the weather heats up, fill your little one’s (or big kids!) smoothie with veggies. If you’re child is extra picky, make sure to add another ingredient – such as berries – to disguise the green colour.
Give these kid-friendly smoothies a go…
Choc Berry Mud.
Simply tell your little one that this smoothie is a choccy shake and they’ll love it! Not only does this blend contain spinach, but it also includes avo which is a great source of healthy fat.
Kiwi Blueberry Mousse Smoothie.
This antioxidant-rich smoothie features two layers – a green layer and purple layer. If the greenness proves too much for your kids, simply mix them together.
Gingerbread Smoothie.
This super filling smoothie is filled with healthy fats and warming spices. What this recipe lacks in green veggies, it makes up for with the addition of pureed sweet potato. Sweet potato is chock-full of fibre and beta-carotene, which help to raise the levels of vitamin A in our blood. Plus, it gives the smoothie a subtle sweetness!
Strawberry Daiquiri.
This non-alcoholic version of the strawberry daiquiri looks more like an icy rather than a smoothie. Unlike its alcoholic counterpart, this one is super nourishing and perfect for kids!
Cucumber Cooler Smoothie.
Now, we know that this particular smoothie is very green, but it’s super easy to customise! Simply add some berries (which are a low-fructose fruit) and they will banish the green colour. This one is great due to it’s veggie content, but it’s also really hydrating for your kids.
