7 ways to drink more water every day (even if you hate it!)

Just so you know, this is a sponsored post. But the opinions are our own and we researched the topic and came to these conclusions independently.

The average human body is 50–65 per cent water. So it makes sense that when that percentage drops through dehydration, we get headaches, fatigue, brain fog, the lot!

Still, it’s no secret that water is not the most exciting thing to drink. If you struggle to make it through eight to 10 glasses of water a day (more or less) these quirky hydration tips will get you drinking more water without even trying. And, no, there’s no juice or soda in sight!

1. Make it sparkle.

Bubbles make everything better, right? Sparkling water satisfies cravings for fizzy soft drink without overloading your liver with sugar.

To reduce waste (plastic water bottle production causes 60,000 tons of greenhouse gases in Australia each year!), our mates at Zip Water have an eco-friendly solution that attaches straight to your plumbing system. Filtered sparkling, boiling or chilled tap water at the touch of a button? Yes please!

2. Infuse with fruit.

If you’re really hankering for a sweet beverage (or just don’t fancy the taste of water), muddle some fresh fruit in sparkling water and leave to chill in the fridge. Or, alternatively make fruity ice cubes! We like to add fresh herbs and spices, too. Try blueberries and mint, or passionfruit and ginger.

3. Buy a filter.

While we’re lucky that most of the water in Australia is very clean, although it can still contain small amounts of sediment, lead and even parasites like giardia. For extra peace of mind (and pure-tasting water) invest in a water filter.

4. Brew some tea.

There’s just something comforting about a hot cup of tea (although it’s just as nice iced in summer). We get plenty of water by drinking copious amounts of herbal tea – it’s a constant queue to refill our mugs at our Zip tap! Find out more about the benefits of herbal tea and which one is right for you.

5. Make ice blocks.

Don’t reach for the Zooper Doopers. Simply do step one (infused fruit water) and pour into ice block molds, dropping some extra fresh fruit in the bottom. It’s healthy, cooling and could easily pass for dessert!

6. Get fancy with florals.

Take a leaf out of Sarah’s book – she often adds a drop of lavender essential oil to her sparkling water to make a calming, refreshing fizz. Rose and violet essentials also work well – just make sure they’re food-grade!

7. Drink from a wine glass.

This is a little bit of a novelty, but hear us out! Drinking your water from a wine glass will make you feel super fancy and sophisticated. Who knows, this psychological trick just might work.
