Guilt-free shopping coming right up!

Written By Unknown on Thursday, 23 November 2017 | 10:04

With more and more Aussie states (and even some supermarket giants) joining the #BanTheBag movement, we’re thrilled to see that the welfare of our environment has become a household topic.

But while reusable shopping bags can help, it doesn’t necessarily make your shopping basket environmentally friendly. Here are the products we think you should get your hands on ASAP so you can shop guilt-free…

Reusable produce bags.

Did you know that the #BanTheBag movement doesn’t include carrier bags for fruit and veg? That means you could undo all your hard BYO bag work by packing your carrots and kale into those flimsy plastic produce bags. Lucky for you, it’s easy to get your hands on reusable produce bags, so not only will your veggies make it home safe and sound, but the environment won’t be harmed in the process. Neat, huh?

Reusable coffee capsules.

Coffee capsule machine users rejoice – gone are the days of disposable pods! Simply fill these pods with coffee grounds, pop it into your machine and Bob’s your Uncle. Better yet? You can even fill them with tea leaves or hot chocolate powder so you’ll always have a delicious brew on hand. Plus, you’ll sip guilt-free knowing that pesky pod didn’t make its way into the bin.

Nut milk bags.

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but drinking almond milk is not the most environmentally friendly or sustainable bevvy of choice. Not only does it take nearly five litres of water to grow one almond (who knew?!), but commercially produced almond milk wastes all the pulp. Enter, nut milk bags… when making your own almond milk, simply strain it through these bags, to ensure you can reuse the almond pulp as DIY almond meal in so many delicious dishes. Crunchy Nut Cheesecake, anyone?
