Bring on the (full) fat!

You either sit on one side of the fat-fence or the other.

At IQS, we have always been (and always will be) on team full-fat. But, if you’re sipping a skinny latte right now (we see you!), put it down and read this…

Low-fat products put extra stress on your gut.

When the fat gets taken out of dairy products, the enzyme that helps you metabolise them is also extracted. This puts more stress on your gut (say hello to unwanted gas!), and turns out, low-fat products can also be to blame for many people thinking they might be lactose intolerant. But, research shows that as full-fat dairy is actually lower in lactose, people who have tummy issues may find they can digest it just fine.

When the fat comes out, sugar goes in.

What do sneaky manufacturers do when they take the fat out? You guessed it, they pump it full of sugar. It’s no secret that fat is often where all the flavour’s hiding, so in order to keep products flying off shelves, brands add sugar and the public is duped into thinking they’re buying a “healthy” product labelled “low-fat”. In reality, some low-fat yoghurts contain a whopping 5.5 teaspoons of sugar! They should really be labelled, “pumped with sugar, stripped of all the good stuff!” *Rolls eyes*

Not to mention, we’re all about whole foods!

Yep, because we Just Eat Real Food (JERF), we stick to noshing on whole foods that are as unprocessed as possible – heck, if we could drink milk straight from the cow, we would! Along with full-fat dairy, we eat chicken skin, bacon fat and coconut oil too. You’ll find full-fat will not only satiate you, but they’ll put the brakes on your cravings too. Win, win!
