Sandwich combos you HAVE to try

Written By Unknown on Monday, 18 December 2017 | 19:07

Sammie, sarnie, sanger… whatever you call ‘em, sandwiches are loved all over the world.

Kids and adults alike love noshing on a good sandwich combo, not to mention that they’re perfect for the ol’ lunchbox. But, move over choccy spreads and sugary jams, because these sammie flavours are not only delish, they’re sugar-free too!

Chicken Caesar.

For those of you that want to get a little bit fancy, strap yourselves in! Drizzle your bread with olive oil and rub with garlic before toasting in the oven, to make your sourdough deliciously crunchy just like croutons! Next, layer chicken breast with prosciutto, grated Parmesan, sliced egg and lettuce. To send your taste buds into overdrive, drizzle your sandwich with our to die for sauce… 1/4 cup full-fat plain or Greek yoghurt, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 clove of crushed garlic and 1 finely chopped anchovy. Welcome to the gourmet sandwich club…

Peanut butter and tomato.

Okay, with the fancy sandwich combo out of the way, these ones are a little simpler and lunchbox ready. The peanut butter + tomato pairing is a little controversial in the IQS office, but don’t knock it until you try it – it’s darn delish. The nutty PB with the freshness of the tomato is out of this world, all topped off with a sprinkle of salt and pepper – you’re about to have one happy tum. (Feel free to use seed butter too!).

Ham with all the extras.

Just in time for that leftover Christmas ham! We can’t think of anything better to do with your offcuts of ham than to pop ‘em between two slices of sourdough along with some mustard (the good stuff, of course), pickles and cheese. Hello, beautiful! *Drools*

BAE + haloumi.

What’s better than a bacon and egg sandwich? Ah, one packed with haloumi, of course! Cheese makes everything better, not to mention those healthy fats with keep you satiated and sustained so you (or your little ones) can get back to having fun.
