Christmas is a time to relax, be merry with friends and family and – let’s be honest – indulge, just a little.
But, there’s nothing worse than missing out on all the festive fun because you’re slaving away in the kitchen. So we’ve come to the rescue! Whether you’re responsible for whipping up a snack, bringing a salad or delivering a delicious dessert – here are six of our fave (sugar-free) recipes that you can prep a few days in advance.
Spicy Activated Nuts.
A bowl of nuts is always a tasty addition to a snack platter or cheeseboard. They’re also a great option if you want to nibble on something satiating so you don’t go overboard when the dessert’s rolled out.
Pork + Fennel Sausage Rolls.
We’re yet to meet a single soul who doesn’t love these sausage rolls. And the best bit is, you can literally whip up a batch and stash them in your freezer until needed. Perfect if you’ve been invited to a Christmas shindig last minute and can’t think of what to bring!
Pecan Pie Slice.
Sweet, sticky and chewy – this pecan pie slice makes for a delicious post-dinner treat. Make it a few days before Christmas and simply store in an airtight container.
Crunchy Roast Potato Salad.
A potato salad is standard at any festive get-together. But, contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be peeling spuds and slaving away over the stove on the big day! For this recipe, simply prep all your veg a day or two before and store in the fridge then, just before serving, toss through spinach and rocket and a little extra olive oil, if needed. Yum!
Christmas Cake.
Yep, we’ve busted the myth that Christmas cake needs to be made weeks (or months) ahead of time. In fact, this one can be whipped up as soon as the week leading up to Christmas and it will be the most delicious Chrissy cake you’ve ever noshed on – promise!
Gut-Lovin’ Chocolate Snowballs.
These festive bliss balls are a crowd-pleaser with kids and adults alike! Again, simply stash in your fridge and bust them out on Christmas Day for a gut-lovin’ treat the whole family will enjoy.
