Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
Yep, we’ve heard Christmas music in the shops already which means the festive season is well and truly on its way…
It’s never too early to start prepping for the silly season either. But to make sure it doesn’t get too silly with all the sweet stuff, here’s our guide on how to whip up the ultimate Christmas hamper.
Whether you’re creating a hamper for a friend – or just putting one together for yourself (giving yourself presents is totally a-okay) – ditch the store-bought versions which are packed with chocolate, fruit and LOADS of sugar, and opt for these goodies instead…
Cheese and crackers.
Who doesn’t love cheese and crackers? Add a block of your fave cheese and some plain crackers to your hamper. Or even better, whip up a batch of these Gluten-Free Seed Crackers for a match made in foodie heaven.
Red wine.
It’s the festive season, so why not include a bottle of your fave red? We love a dry red because it has less residual sugar, but feel free to opt for a dry white too!
Nuts.
Flavoured nuts are bound to go down a treat, and they’re a heartfelt gift too. These Spicy Activated Nuts pair perfectly with a glass of red. But if sweet flavours are more your style, try our Chai Spiced Nuts by adding these to the recipe above… ¾ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, ¾ teaspoon ground allspice, ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom, ¼ teaspoon granulated stevia, a pinch of sea salt. Yum!
Infused olive oil.
This one is sure to melt mum’s heart and we can’t think of anything more thoughtful than infusing oil with someone’s favourite scent! Simply pop fresh rosemary, basil, lemon or garlic into the oil and leave it to infuse for at least three weeks. The result? The most delish oil for cooking, drizzling and dipping!
Healthy Bounty Bars.
A delicious hamper isn’t complete without some home baking. These Bounty Bars are just like the real thing, except sugar-free, of course!
Sugar-Free Christmas Cake.
Is Christmas really Christmas without cake? We don’t think so. If you’re whipping up your hamper a day or two before Chrissy, bake the cake and wrap it up ready for your hamper. But, if you want to jump the gun (and you’re one of those super organised Christmas people!) simply pop all the dry ingredients into a jar and include a recipe card so your nearest and dearest can make their own cake before the big day.
