What do these 4 celebrities have in common? (Hint: it begins with the letter J!)

What do Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Biel have in common? (And it’s not just the similarities in their names!).

While, yes, they all have access to private chefs and personal trainers, these four leading ladies also all stick to the kind of eating plan we recommend. And it all comes down to another J word – JERF.

The gist of JERFing.

You don’t need to be a movie star to JERF. In fact it’s so easy your gran could do it (and probably did!).

JERFing is simply the concept of “just eating real food” like our grandparents did. On the I Quit Sugar: 8-Week Program we focus on fresh vegetables, whole unprocessed foods and home cooking. (Granted, a personal chef isn’t included, but we make it so easy you won’t need one.)

Here’s how these celebs do JERFing right.

Jenny from the farmers’ markets.

It’s not all MTV-video clips for J Lo. In fact, you’re just as likely to spot her (assistant) filling her shopping basket with green leafy veggies, a little protein and some grains.

“It’s all organic and very well thought out,” says her trainer Tracy Anderson. “Everything is fresh and there’s nothing processed. It’s important to balance very high-quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food.”

And J Lo’s favourite JERF snack …?

Jess Alba: The A-lister with an A+ diet.

This Dark Angel takes a decidedly lighter approach to her diet

“To me, it’s knowing that if you eat unprocessed fresh food —it doesn’t all have to be organic (but try to have the least amount of GMOs). You have energy, aren’t starving and don’t have to count calories.”

Reckon the star has no idea what it’s like for real people (like mums with screaming kids who refuse to eat their broccoli)?

“I have the same food philosophy for myself as I do for my kids,” she says. “We eat mostly protein and fresh fruit and vegetables, nothing processed or from a box, if we can.”

Why Jennifer Aniston is a friend with benefits.

As well the kind of protein-packed breakfast routine we love (oatmeal, eggs and avocado toast feature regularly), Jen has worked out that just eating real food is the key to food freedom

“My general philosophy is to eat healthy. As much organic fruits and veggies as you can, keep sugar [intake] low and drink tons of water.”

Jessica’s A-Biel-ing approach to JERF.

Mrs Justin Timberlake brings a little glam to JERFing.  She even includes fermented foods in her diet!

“I try to keep my diet really clean: loads of vegetables, lots of quinoa, unprocessed grain protein and some occasional animal protein,” says the star. “Fermented veggies and probiotics are also great for my skin and digestion.[I] sprinkle them over a salad or even eggs in the morning.”

And in proof that Jessica may secretly be an undercover-IQS reader, the actress seems to have a similar approach to some of our favourite recipes. “I also drink green tea, and slip veggies like beets and zucchini into cakes.”
