As time goes on, natural beauty products just keep on getting better and better…
And, thanks to their availability and popularity, they are also becoming more affordable all the time. While detoxing your entire makeup bag and skincare regime can be a costly exercise, it’s easy to make simple changes.
So, we did the hard work for you and gathered up nine of our favourite products – ranging from skin care, oral care and nail products – which are affordable and hardworking. Start swapping out your chemically-laden products for these ones…
1. Suvana Certified Organic Paw Paw.
While the paw paw cream in the iconic red tube is hugely popular, it’s also filled with petroleum (you know, petrol?) so we steer clear of that one. This all-natural version is just as good at soothing chapped lips, healing cuts and scratches and nourishing dry elbows. Plus, it’s Australian made and contains only a handful of naturally derived ingredients. Use it for everything and anything!
2. Weleda Skin Food.
If you haven’t seen this little green tube before, be prepared to enter the cult that is Weleda Skin Food. The formula for this baby hasn’t changed since its 1926 invention and it’s filled with only the best plant and flower extracts. This is also a great all-in-one product as it can be used as an eye cream, a makeup primer, a cuticle cream, a split end treatment and a lip balm. It’s perfect for those with super dry skin – so if that’s you, lather this stuff on your face before bed and you’ll wake up dewy!
3. The Jojoba Company Jojoba Oil.
Everybody NEEDS a face oil in their life and this one is great – and yes, you should be using facial oil even if you have oily skin! This jojoba oil is rich in omega 6 and 9 fatty acids, as well as vitamin A and D and can be used pretty much anywhere, don’t just save it for your face.
4. Black Chicken Remedies Axilla Deodorant Paste.
If you haven’t jumped on the natural deodorant train yet, don’t worry! In fact, we’ve literally done the hard yards for you with this one – we’ve collectively sampled many natural deodorants which aren’t exactly effective – but this is undoubtedly the best we have come across. It doesn’t stop sweating (because your body is meant to sweat!) but it does keep pong to a minimum.
5. Kuu Konjac Pure Sponge.
Konjac sponges seemed to gain popularity almost overnight, and for good reason – they’re perfect for removing makeup while also removing any dead skin cells at the same time. This sponge is biodegradable – so it won’t sit in landfill forever – and it’s made entirely from 100 per cent natural Konjac vegetable plant root so it’s completely natural.
6. Badger Cuticle Care.
Ditch the cuticle oil from your local nail salon and try this deeply nourishing cuticle balm, which is filled with shea butter and beeswax. The small size and sturdy tin makes it perfect for carrying around in your handbag. Simply pop on your fingers as needed or lather on before putting on a pair of cotton gloves to wear to bed for maximum nourishment.
7. Dr Tung’s Tongue Cleaner.
Incorporating tongue cleaning into your daily routine might seem bizarre but it’s nothing short of life-changing. About 50 per cent of bacteria in your mouth resides on your tongue and toothbrushes do a pretty poor job of removing this, hence the need for a specially designed product. But trust us, give tongue scraping a try and you’ll never go back!
8. Swisse Micellar Makeup Remover.
Finding a hard-working makeup remover that isn’t filled with chemicals is no mean feat, but this one ticks all of the boxes. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin and does a pretty great job at removing makeup and the grime of daily life.
9. Morihata Binchotan Facial Scrub Towel.
We love using a muslin cloth when cleansing as it helps to give your skin a much deeper clean, so we were stoked when we discovered this facial scrub towel. Not only does it help to clear away dead skin cells, but it also has natural bacteria-fighting qualities thanks to the addition of charcoal. It’s also particularly good for fighting blackheads!
Got a favourite natural beauty product you swear by? We’d love to know!
