If only you could trick yourself into LOVING those pesky chores…
Well, what if we told you you can?!
Enter, temptation bundling – AKA the latest way to bribe yourself into forming positive habits.
The term was first coined by researcher Katherine Milkman when she discovered a genius way to balance our wants and our needs by teaming them up together.
Her study had a select group of students listen to engaging audiobooks, but the catch was they could only listen while they were at the gym. Other students in the study however, were just encouraged to workout. The results? Not surprisingly the students with access to the audiobooks visited the gym 51 per cent more often… just to listen to the next chapter!
While temptation bundling definitely requires a little self-control, it means you could also start to enjoy those dreaded chores.
So we thought, why not incorporate this into all aspects of our lives?
Here are our fave temptation bundles…
- Treat yourself to a pedicure while you answer all those work emails that are piling up!
- Catch up with “that” friend you’ve been avoiding (or even your mum!) while enjoying dinner at your favourite restaurant.
- Mop your floors (yeah, how long has it been since you’ve done that?) while you pop on a refreshing face mask. Clean floors and clear skin all in 20 minutes, yes please!
- Do your Sunday Cook-Up for the 8-Week Program while you listen to the latest #trending podcast.
