Chances are, you’ve probably got a jar of miso gathering dust at the back of your pantry…
Miso paste, which is made from fermented beans and grains, is super versatile. And, because it’s fermented, it’s also great for your gut, while also being an excellent source of protein, fibre and antioxidants.
So, it’s time to pull out that jar and put it to good use – while also giving your gut health a boost…
1. Glaze for meat + veggies.
Miso with grilled meat and veggies is a match made in foodie heaven as it totally has the ability to take them to the next level. Miso glazed eggplant and salmon are our faves, but you don’t have to head to your local Japanese restaurant to enjoy them – try our sugar-free version of miso eggplant.

2. Salad dressings.
Miso paste also makes a great addition to salad dressings – and it pairs with just about any food, so it doesn’t matter what’s in your salad – as it provides a natural salty flavour. This particular miso dressing uses blended cashews, lemon juice and water and it’s absolutely delish!

3. Sweet treats!
We’re actually not even joking, you can totally add miso to your sweet treats to provide a subtle salty taste which pairs perfectly with sweet. You seriously have to try these blondies – you won’t regret it.

4. Curry.
Next time you’re whipping up a veg curry, add a few tablespoons of brown miso paste for a flavour bomb.

5. On toast.
It might sound bizarre to spread miso on toast, but we promise, there’s a delightful way to enjoy it with avo on toast. Simply mix a tablespoon of miso paste with 3 tablespoons of tahini and one tablespoon of water and mix well. Spread the paste on your toast and top with avocado. Yum!
6. Paired with pasta.
Miso is also right at home when paired with tomato paste, wine and tomatoes in a rich pasta sauce. Give it a go and you’ll never again make a miso-less pasta sauce.

7. By the mug!
And last, but not least, the easiest way to enjoy miso is to pop a tablespoon in a mug, top with boiling water and then add a few cubes of tofu and a sprinkle of dulse flakes and you’re done. You’ve got a super nutritious and filling snack which can be enjoyed morning, noon or night!
