Motel Muggins: the 30-second healthy breakfast you have to try

When you’re on the go, getting a healthy breakfast probably seems downright impossible.

Hotels and motels aren’t exactly known for their nutritious brekkie options. (And you’d probably have to take out a mortgage before sourcing something remotely nutritious from the mini bar.)

Our marketing executive Alyssa ran into this dilemma on a recent trip to New Zealand… and came up with an ingenious solution.

Introducing the Motel Muggin!

Alyssa came prepared with two kitchen staples: peanut butter and Greek yoghurt. Delicious enough on their own, but when combined: BAM.

“I drink a smoothie for breakfast 365 days a year. But my recent NZ travels forced me to get creative,” says Alyssa.

“We started mixing Greek yoghurt and peanut butter in our motel mugs, topping it with berries, nuts and seeds. The PB/yoghurt combo is EPIC!”

How to make your muggin.

Fill your mug with around 150g of full-fat Greek or natural yoghurt. Then swirl in a tablespoon or more of runny peanut butter, depending on how nutty you like it!

If you’re at home, you can boost it with a sprinkle of whatever ingredients you have at hand. We highly recommend frozen berries, nuts or seeds, and/or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
