The weird way sugar could be depleting vitamins in your body

Written By Unknown on Monday 27 June 2016 | 00:11

Do you take vitamin supplements to boost your wellbeing? While supplements can be useful, it might be worth looking at how your sugar habit can affect your vitamin levels, too.

Why? Well, experts think that sugar could be a potential reason why certain vitamins might be depleted in your body. Here’s where it gets technical.

B vitamins are used by the body to process sugar.

To get really specific, B vitamins help break down sugars into energy. The more sugar you eat, the more B vitamins your body will require to break down said sugar.

While he science is still being investigated, health experts speculate that too much dietary sugar and refined carbohydrates over a prolonged period of time could exhaust your B vitamin supplies. Deficiencies could result in skin conditions like acne and dermatitis, weakness and brain fog.

If you want to boost your vitamins, JERF!

The depletion issue is just one piece of the puzzle. If you’re eating a diet that’s mostly sugar and refined carbs, it’s possible that you’re already missing out on B vitamins. That’s because these processed foods are already low in B vitamins compared to whole foods (and why you’ll see cereal manufacturers add vitamins back into their “enriched” frosted flakes).

The solution? Simply cut back on the crap and Just Eat Real Food! You’ll boost your levels of B vitamins (as well as many other essential nutrients) by eating lots of vegetables, proteins and healthy fats. Plus, they taste a lot better than a multivitamin!
