The best self-help books we’ll be reading this year

Written By Unknown on Thursday 1 February 2018 | 14:09

All things related to personal development skyrocket come January, but we love reading a good self-help book no matter what month it is.

While you can’t learn life from a book, personal development books are extremely helpful in providing inspiration, perspective and sometimes, a push in the right direction. These five books are on our hit-list for 2018 and we can’t wait to get stuck into them!

While the title of this book might sound, as it says, counterintuitive, Mark Manson’s manual for life helps you to figure out what means the most to you and how you can put your energy into it. This book is a reminder that it’s impossible to truly care about everything and everyone all at once, and Mark’s slap in the face approach might be just what you need to reevaluate who and what is in your life.

Penned by the bestselling author of Eat Pray Love, Big Magic has been lauded as a book for “artists” and “creatives” – but to be honest, this book is for everyone. No matter what you’re searching for – it could be a more mindful life, or to inject more passion into your work – this book is your beacon of light. Be prepared for an instant buzz of inspiration after reading.

This book takes Marie Kondo’s guide to tidying up your home and flips it on its head, literally. Sarah Knight shows you how to declutter your mind and redirect your energy into things you truly love while ditching perfectionism. Another great read for those who have decided 2018 is the year to shed what they no longer need. Already read this one and loved it? Check out Knight’s new book, You Do You – it’s fab!

Managing your money is an art that many people struggle with, so any help that Scott Pape can provide, we’ll take! And, this financial bible is a bestseller for a reason. Scott’s tried and tested method is set out in a step by step guide which will teach you how to keep your finances under control. Plus, don’t expect any vague tips or strict budgets in this bad boy, only helpful advice!

  • Slow by Brooke McAlary.

There’s never been a better time to declutter your life and this year, we’ll be doing this with Slow, by Aussie author, Brooke McAlary. This book delves into the philosophy of slow living,  explaining how slowing down and cutting the crap – physically and mentally – out of your life can make it all the more happier and healthier.

What’s your favourite self-help book?
