Zoodles of reasons to use that zucchini

We’ve all fallen into the trap…the “special” sign grabs your eye. You can’t restrain yourself from the great bargain. And then, as if by magic you have a trolley FULL of zucchini.

But then what? Suddenly you’ve got a  stockpile at the back of your fridge.

The humble zucchini often becomes the sidekick to your main meal but we think they should be promoted to the star of the dish…

1. They keep your bones strong.

Zucchinis are loaded with calcium to keep your bones strong and ready for action.

Calcium is essential to many bodily functions but it’s actually stored in your bones. Eating a diet rich in calcium can help prevent issues such as arthritis and osteoporosis.

2. They help lower your cholesterol.

High levels of vitamin A and C in zucchinis helps to slow the buildup of cholesterol in your arteries, keeping cholesterol levels down. This wonder veg also flushes out excess toxins from your body.

3. They keep you hydrated.

Well, kind of. Zucchinis are 95% water, so eating them will help to hydrate you. But we still vote for drinking water first!

4. They protect your lungs (asthmatics, listen up!).

The powerful anti-inflammatory properties of vitamin C keeps your lungs clear and your immune system fighting any respiratory issues (extra important in winter!).

5. We just froth over zucchini…

To be honest, we just love ‘em. Zucchinis are super versatile – smoothies, zoodles, fritters – you name it, zucchini can make it!

How do you add zucchini to your family meals?
