What’s harder to decipher, the Da Vinci Code? Or nutrition labels?
Definitely the latter!
Deciphering nutrition labels can be tough. Should you read the serving size? Per 100 grams? And what about all the alias names for sugar?
Well, be prepared to have you supermarket life changed. This is the ONLY thing you need to read…
Sugar per 100 grams.
When deciding whether we put a product in our trolley or leave it on the shelf, we study the “sugars” per 100g column.
Essentially, this number represents the percentage of sugar the product contains.
If a product has 25g of sugar per 100g, it’s 25 per cent sugar. It’s that simple!
As a general rule, we recommend choosing products with only 3-5g of sugar per 100g to make sure you’re sticking to the World Health Organisation and I Quit Sugar’s guidelines of just 6-9 teaspoons of sugar a day!
