And on Sunday… We meal prep!
When you hear the words “meal prep” what springs to mind? A mountain of dishes? Tupperware containers? And, dry chicken? We can hear you cringing from here.
Prepping your meals is vital to staying on the sugar-free wagon, but it doesn’t have to mean eating chicken all week!
On the 8-Week Program, we love a cook-up and we give you all the guidance you need to own your meal prep like a boss.
For a sneak peek at what a typical IQS Sunday Cook-Up looks like, these meal prep staples will get you through the week.
Meat.
A big batch of your fave protein is a great way to get the meal prep ball rolling. We love to cook our meat in a slow cooker so we can set and forget about it until it’s ready (smart, huh?).
Once the meat is super tender and juicy, separate it into portions for the week ahead and stash them in your freezer. Slow cooker meals are perfect on their own or make a quick ‘n’ easy addition to salads and stir-frys.
Slow Cooked Italian Beef Brisket
Roast veg.
With less than 4 per cent of Aussies getting enough veggies in, a tray of these roasted beauties can go a long way. Any combo of roast veg is delish, so pop your faves in the oven with a glug of olive oil, salt and pepper and voila! Throw them into lunch, dinner, soup or even puree them to use in sweet treats.
Grains.
Grains are a great to bulk out all kinds of meals, and they’re so easy to cook. We love to whip up a batch of quinoa, basmati rice or buckwheat on the weekend so it’s ready to add in as and when we need it. (They freeze really well too!)
Stock.
Goodbye pre-made stocks! While you might not need to make stock every week, it’s great to have a batch on hand to add depth of flavour to soups or sauces. Chicken, fish, veg or even lamb – the choice is yours.
Snacks.
The prep’s not complete until you add in a lil’ snack. While we aren’t big snackers, it’s always good to have something on hand just in case your hunger kicks in (to save you reaching for the chocolate).
These Apple Bircher Breakfast Cookies are to die for – and they double as an on-the-go brekkie as well!
