Think vinegar is just the clear stuff you douse on your fish and chips?
You might be surprised to learn there’s another type out there with a whole host of health benefits: apple cider vinegar!
From busting bad breath to banishing bloat, a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in the morning is a great way to start the day. (Is it any wonder we’ve gone ahead and developed our own?)
Why we drink ACV for breakfast.
- Digestion aid: ACV can help fire up your digestive juices in the morning and kick the appetite into gear.
- Blood sugar balancer: One study found that two teaspoons of ACV taken before a meal reduced insulin response by 34 per cent in insulin-resistant participants.
- Antifungal friend: From keeping your mouth squeaky-clean to battling bad bugs in your system, ACV has promising antifungal properties.
- Fat fighter: Animal studies have shown ACV’s potential in lowering both body fat and cholesterol levels.
Quick tip to protect your pearly whites.
“Drink your morning ACV in water through a straw and rinse your mouth with water immediately afterwards,” says IQS expert and holistic dentist, Vanessa Platt.
“Also, don’t brush your teeth for one hour after the ACV drink, as it takes about 55 minutes for the PH levels in your mouth to balance again.”
You won’t find ACV with the malt and balsamic vinegars at the supermarket! Instead, look out for our I Quit Sugar Apple Cider Vinegar in the health aisle in Woolworths in Australia (or check out other brands at your local health shop).
