How to make our cacao protein balls (+ pimp with your favourite ingredients!)

Yesterday we demonstrated how to make our I Quit Sugar: Cacao + Chia Superfood Protein Ball Mix on Facebook Live. Turns out they’re a firm favourite with everyone who watched!

For anyone that missed it, we thought we’d share the recipe with you here, as well as some tasty mix-ins you can add to, er, pimp your balls. (That sounded better in our heads!)

These tasty treats are perfect for making the week ahead, so you’re never caught out if a “snack attack” happens. And the combo of protein and healthy fats is great for nipping 3pm sugar cravings in the bud.

Got yourself a packet? We’ve pimped ours with almonds, buckwheat groats and cinnamon, but here are some more ideas to try.

  • Cacao nibs: Stud with raw cacao nibs for a doubly chocolate flavour.
  • Mint: Like a Mint Slice, only healthier! Add chopped leaves for a refreshing hint.
  • Maca: With a nutty flavour, maca powder is a great caffeine-free energy booster.
  • Peanuts: Cheaper than almonds, they’ll give your treats a nice salty kick.
  • Sesame seeds: Sesame is rich in nutrients, including calcium. Roll the balls in sesame seeds instead of coconut to make these even healthier!
