The one celebrity diet trend we do recommend you try

Written By Unknown on Sunday, 5 June 2016 | 18:05

We generally don’t recommend taking your health advice from reality TV stars. But for every A-lister following a fad diet there are plenty of others who adopt a more sensible approach (looking at you J Lo).

Not only are these celebs quitting sugar (don’t forget the Australian launch of celeb reality show Sugar Free Farm next week!) they’re also digging into our other food philosophies. Like eating fat!

From ghee to cheese, these six stars aren’t afraid to skip the lettuce-and-water routine.

1. Keep up with Kourtney Kardashian by drinking ghee for breakfast.

The eldest of the Kardashian klan recently revealed that ghee is her go-to source of fat.

As well as admitting she learnt to make the stuff from her grandmother (we love a little retro cooking advice), Kourtney confessed that she eats a teaspoon of this healthy clarified butter every single morning.

“I melt it and drink it,” Kourtney said. “I also try to incorporate it into my meals as much as possible… Sometimes I sneak half a teaspoon into my kids’ warm milk because I believe in it so much.”

2. Harry Styles heads in the right direction and adds coconut oil to his coffee.

Teenage girls may be nuts about Mr One Direction, but he’s crazy about coconuts. In fact, Harry loves coconut oil so much that he adds it to his daily caffeine hit.

“I drink Bullet Coffee,” he says. “It’s black coffee with a spoonful of butter in it and a spoonful of coconut oil, all mixed up together. You don’t get hungry.”

Bite the bullet and try it for yourself. Or get a similar buzz by eating a spoonful of organic coconut oil when sugar cravings hit.

3. Avocados are Miranda Kerr’s secret.

We can’t promise that adding fat to your diet will will nab you an international modelling contract, but it will keep you fuller for longer.

As well as a fondness for healthy oils like macadamia and olive, Miranda loves avocados. “One of my favourite snacks is half an avocado with sea salt,” she says.

And with so many delicious health benefits, who can blame her?

4. Almond butter works for Rihanna.

She may sing about birthday cake but Rihanna has a much healthier approach to her breakfast. Her trainer recently revealed that RiRi likes to start her day with almond butter on toast.

Who needs a Grammy award when you’re onto a winning source of heart-healthy monounsaturated fat?

5. Jennifer Aniston: Eggs with benefits.

We’re glad we’ve found a friend who loves whole eggs as much as we do.

“How I take my eggs, depends on my moods,” Jen says. “But I always throw a yolk in there – the yolk’s got a bad rap.”

And indeed it does, but wrongly so. The yolk actually contains most of the egg’s nutritional benefits, so don’t throw yours away.

6. Ricky Gervais “Camembert” to live without cheese.

The English comedian’s soft spot for hard cheeses is no laughing matter. So much so that he has admitted, “I’ve probably had –  let’s see –  two different types of cheese today. I had a little mid-morning snack of Cheddar on toast and then a little cheese snack later on.”

Sounds like Edam Gouda plan, to us!
