5 sugar-free snacks to satisfy those 3pm munchies

Written By Unknown on Saturday 20 January 2018 | 10:02

Having a desk stash of snacks at work is super important, especially when the 3pm munchies hit…

Having your work desk stocked with healthy and tasty snacks will save you from wandering to the vending machine and stuffing your face with chips and chocolate!

These snacks are easy to source and will keep your energy levels up so you can power through your afternoon…

We love popcorn! It’s cheap and super easy to prepare for a fast snack. And, it lends itself perfectly to extra additions like spices and nut butter, which up the nutritional count. Simply take a bag of kernels to work with you and pop the amount you want as you go. Put the kernels in a large glass bowl, along with a knob of butter, pop a plate over the top and microwave on high for two minutes – yum!

  • Roasted chickpeas.

When roasted, chickpeas turn into the most moreish crispy snack, perfect for satisfying those 3pm hunger pangs. Toss your chickpeas in olive oil, salt and spices – cumin and paprika are a delish combo – then roast in the oven until crunchy.

When you’re feeling like stuffing your face into a bag of potato chips, try these crackers instead. Sure, they’re not made from potatoes but they are full of seeds and nuts which will keep you feeling satiated longer than any old crisps can.

We are a tad addicted to nut butter in the IQS office and it’s not unusual for us to enjoy a spoonful of peanut butter on those occasions when afternoon munchies come around. While you could keep nuts in your desk drawer, we like the versatility that nut butter offers. You can simply have a spoonful to quash your cravings, or spread it on crackers, rice cakes, celery or apple slices.

These babies are a pimped version of our make at home Superfood Protein Ball Cacao + Chia Mix which you can pick up from your local Coles or Woolies for those in Oz. And, they make the perfect snack for work as they are filled with cinnamon – which helps sugar cravings by stabilising blood sugar levels – as well as satiating coconut oil and nuts, so they’ll keep you fuller for longer and kick any sweet cravings to the curb.

What are your fave snacks to keep in your desk drawer?
