Meal prep like a #boss this Sunday

Written By Unknown on Saturday, 28 October 2017 | 11:08

So, you’ve decided to start your week off on the right foot by setting aside your Sunday for meal prep.

But now, you’re staring at your kitchen bench wondering where to get started, right? Before you freak out and throw in the towel, here are our top tips on how to master your meal prep (or, as we like to call it, the Sunday Cook-Up!) like a boss…

Get organised.

First things first, plan your menu for the week so you can write a shopping list off the back of the recipes you’ve got planned. If you’ve already done your weekly shop at your local farmers market or grocery store, don’t fret. Simply check out the ingredients you’ve already got in your fridge and pantry, and craft your menu around that. Better yet? Batch cook!

Got three dishes planned that each need a serve of quinoa? Instead of whipping up individual portions in the evening, make an extra big batch today and store in individual containers or ziplock bags in your freezer until you need them. Batch cooking is great for soups, grains and lentils but get creative as things like meatballs and brownies can be prepped in advance and stored in the freezer too.

Befriend your slow cooker.

It’s no secret we’re huge fans of the humble slow cooker, but seriously – what’s more simple than throwing in a bunch of ingredients only to be greeted with a delicious dinner by the time you walk in the door at night? They’re not just for weekends either. Spend some of your meal prep time today getting ingredients chopped, sliced and diced, ready to be popped in the slow cooker in the morning. Simple!

Don’t forget your snacks.

Once you’ve got your main dishes down, spend a little time thinking about what you’re going to nibble on if a snack attack strikes. Our advice? Whip up a batch of bliss balls to store in the freezer or cut up crunchy veg like carrots, capsicum and celery ready to grab when hunger pangs hit.

On our 8-Week Program, we teach you how to master your Sunday Cook-Up so you can spend more time enjoying delicious food, and less time washing up!
