Kid-friendly gummies

Written By Unknown on Sunday 24 September 2017 | 18:02

It’s no secret that sweets are loaded with sugar!

Shockingly, your standard gummies contain nearly 50 per cent sugar and more than three different types of the sweet stuff. They’ll also send your kids into a crazy sugar spin.

The World Health Organisation released these sugar guidelines for kids

  • Just three teaspoons for all children aged 2–8.
  • Five teaspoons for girls and six teaspoons for boys aged 9–13.
  • Six teaspoons for girls and seven and a half teaspoons for boys aged 14–18.

Munching on regular gummies can really blow your sugar intake way out of the water. In fact, just TWO gummy snakes equates to just over three teaspoons of sugar. But really, does anyone really manage to eat just two snakes at a time?!

Add to this, that around 50 per cent of Aussie kids start primary school with untreated cavities due to sugar dissolving their tooth enamel, and it’s definitely time to say goodbye to the sweets!

But, that doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to treats…

You can make your own sugar-free and delicious gummies with the power of gelatin – making them good for your gut too!
