Which type of sugar addict are you?

Written By Unknown on Tuesday 15 August 2017 | 13:04

Sugar addiction can come in all shapes and sizes…

And, you might be addicted without even realising it. Could one of these be you?

The undercover sugar addict.

There’s no way in the world you’d touch table sugar, but you’ll happily scoff on raw cakes and ALL the dates all the while saying, “oh, but it’s natural”. When you open up your pantry, staple ingredients include honey, maple syrup and agave to drizzle on your morning smoothie bowl. But, when all those sugars add up, you’ve probably consumed well over your daily limit. Yikes!

If this is you… Swap out your sweeteners for a little rice malt syrup instead. If you still need an occasional sweet treat, this Flourless Berry Chocolate Cake is a winner!

The pre-made princess.

You’re a busy body, always on the go from one place to the next and while you’ve ditched sugar from most foods, you love the ease of a quick grab ‘n’ go snack from your local convenience store, or even a pre-packaged meal from your supermarket. Unbeknownst to you however, these packaged goodies are secretly loaded with the sweet stuff.

If this is you… Stock your handbag with snacks that aren’t packed with sugar – nuts, hummus and veggie sticks or even bliss balls are great for when you’re on the go. Try filling your freezer with healthy meals that you’ve made during your a Sunday Cook-Up too – your wallet will thank you for it!

The “low-fat for life” addict.

Is your coffee order a “skim latte to-go please”? You opt for skim milk and low-fat yoghurt because you believe that eating fat makes you fat, ignoring the fact that companies often pump up the added sugar content in low-fat products.

If this is you… Slowly start incorporating full-fat products into your diet – milk and yoghurt are great ones to start with. You’ll find the full-fat versions keep you satiated for longer, and besides, fat doesn’t make you fat!

The juicer.

Living off a liquid diet is healthy, right? You just love sipping on something cold to get you through the day, but juicing strips fruit of its natural fibre and leaves all the sugar behind. Plus, there’s no way you could eat all that fruit whole.

If this is you… Smoothies are right up our alley! Try swapping out your next juice with one of our veggie packed smoothies instead, which are full of nutrients and fibre.

The hardcore addict.

You eat a load of sugar and you know it, but you’re not really sure how to tackle breaking your addiction. Will you die without sugar? How will you get through that 3pm slump?

If this is you… Looks like our 8-Week Program is for you! We take you through the sugar quitting process step-by-step, holding your hand the whole way. You also get access to experts in the forums who can help you out with any nitty gritty questions. Are you ready?
