3/4 of Brits eat the same work lunch EVERY DAY! Here’s how to make sure you don’t

Written By Unknown on Tuesday 7 March 2017 | 19:15

Do you eat the same lunch every day? A study new reveals that more than three-quarters of office workers in the UK have eaten the exact same lunch for the past NINE MONTHS.

Even more disturbingly, one in six has eaten the same lunch for the past TWO YEARS! The most common reasons cited were lack of inspiration and needing to save money.

Sounds like you? Consider this is your intervention. We’ve rounded up five work lunch recipes that are healthy, easy and will actually get you excited come break time. (Check out I Quit Sugar: The Lunchbox Book for more inspo!)

1. Want a ham sandwich?

The most common lunch in the survey was the humble ham sandwich. But with white bread and some perhaps-not-the-best-quality-meat, it definitely needs a makeover.

Instead, try our Ultimate Beef Sandwich. Slow cook grass-fed beef on the weekend, so it’s ready to eat all week long. Then serve it up with delicious sourdough bread, slaw and chilli relish.

2. Keen on chicken?

If you’re a chicken fan, there’s no need to eat the same lunch every day. There are so many delicious things to do with this versatile bird!

Case in point: these delicious Teriyaki Chicken Rice Cakes. Prep the ingredients the night before and you can put together this sushi-inspired lunch at your desk!

3. Going for salad instead?

Who really wants to spend a small fortune each week on salad? If you’ve been giving way too much cash to your local cafĂ©, you have to try making your own.

This Cheat’s Chicken Caesar Salad, for example, can be prepped in just five minutes! Just chop, toss and eat.

4. Love a cup-a-soup?

More than being a little uninspiring, canned or instant soup isn’t always a healthy option. Many of the major manufacturers, like Heinz, add sugar to make them sweeter.

And honestly, it’s cheaper to make a big batch of soup for the week. Fill your Thermos with this naturally sweet, warming Coconut Curry Pumpkin Soup instead.

5. Lots of instant noodles?

If all you’ve got at your office is a kettle, we can see why instant noodles would be your go-to. But did you know that some Pot Noodle varieties contain up to three teaspoons of sugar (not the mention the other ingredients)?

While this Spring Ramen Bowl might look a little fancy, it’s super easy to put together when you prep the veg and stock beforehand. For the kettle option, simply use thin noodles.
