There’s a reason you’ll often catch non-Australian’s donning their best Aussie accent and telling you to “throw another shrimp on the barbie, mate!”.
Barbecued shrimps (or “prawns”, as we actually call them Down Under) are an Aussie tradition. Particularly in the summer months when the weather is warm and the barbies are hot all day long.
Cooking prawns can be intimidating for some folk. These ones are dead ‘shrimple’ (and ready to eat in just 30 minutes). Even old Uncle Joe will get them right!
Serve them straight off the grill and smothered in buttery garlic sauce (which also goes swimmingly on other fish and seafood, by the way). You might want to make an extra batch though, people can get a bit “shellfish” when it comes to sharing them!
