Happy 2017! Dated NSW school canteens guidelines may be scrapped in the new year

Written By Unknown on Monday 19 December 2016 | 16:39

It looks all our campaigning against the shoddy NSW canteens guidelines could finally pay off next year.

The Saturday Telegraph has gotten its hands on some juicy info which suggests the wishy-washy traffic light system will be axed.

Instead, soft drink and caffeinated drinks could be outright banned, and other “occasional” foods will be hidden behind the counter. 75 per cent of the food sold must be fresh, everyday food. Hallelujah!

Is it too good to be true? We’ve been in contact with the Healthy Kids Association, who are campaigning close to the source. While it’s still being finalised with the Government, rumour has it that canteens will be really shaken up in 2017. It couldn’t come soon enough!
