6 dude food recipes that are actually healthy

Written By Unknown on Monday 3 April 2017 | 18:56

Dude food doesn’t have much of a reputation for being healthy.

But if you’re the meat ‘n’ mash kind of bloke (or know someone who is), rest assured there are some easy ways to turn any dude food into a healthy recipe. Unless it’s this burger. Or this one.

In fact, 95 per cent men who’ve done the I Quit Sugar: 8-Week Program say that the recipes are really filling! Here are just six dude food recipes to get your teeth stuck into.

1. BBQ Chicken with all the Crispy Bits.

Did you know you can cook an entire chicken on the barbie? This super simple recipe takes charcoal chook to the next level, with a nutrient-dense salsa verde to serve.

2. Surf ‘n’ Turf Tacos.

Blokes who love meat are sure to go crazy for these tacos – they’ve got beef AND prawns! Plus, the cabbage and avocado keeps it on the lighter side.

3. Greek Souvlaki Bowl.

Souvlaki is delicious but even the most carnivorous must admit it needs some veggies for balance! We’ve thrown in some chips, too. You’re welcome.

4. Better Than Mum’s Shepherd’s Pie.

Better than Mum’s is a big call, but we reckon we’ve got the goods. This rich bolognese stew topped with buttery potato mash is the perfect blokey recipe in the colder weather.

5. Kangaroo Burgers with Apple, Fennel + Celery Slaw.

Healthy burgers do exist! We’ve greened out this one with a refreshing apple, fennel and celery slaw. If you’re not a fan of roo, any kind of mincemeat will do!

6. Beer Brownies.

Love beer? You’ll be happy to know you can still drink it when you quit sugar. We’ve even snuck it into these brew-tiful brownies for a slight hops taste.
